Torn Meniscus – Avoiding Knee Surgery & Recovery After Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

Torn Meniscus: Common Features

The meniscus is a cartilage structure that helps distribute load in the knee. Tears may occur from twisting movements or gradual degeneration.

Common symptoms include joint-line pain, swelling after activity, clicking or catching sensations, difficulty fully straightening the knee, and pain with squatting or pivoting.

Symptoms are often influenced by swelling, joint pressure, dehydration, and movement patterns rather than tear size alone. Some meniscus tears remain symptomatic with or without surgery if irritation and motion restrictions persist.
